Community Apothecary Tea Blending Workshop
Event description
Join us to welcome back Rasha Tayeh for a workshop teaching us how to blend some tea and herbs that can be found in the Community Apothecary and Pantry. Please come along for a cup of tea from 5.30pm for a 6pm start. Each participant will enjoy some freshly brewed tea, a light soup and a take-home blended tea. This workshop will be held at Oakhill Food Justice Farm from 5.30-7.30pm on Tuesday 24th September.
Rasha is a Palestinian artist, researcher, herbalist, nutritionist, founder & creative director of Beit e’Shai Teahouse, a Naarm-based,
SWANA-inspired social enterprise. Her practice is land-based with an ecofeminist approach, focusing on telling stories about food and plant medicine across various mediums including photography, sound, film,
words and live art. Rasha is interested in the space where art and
health intersect; preserving food histories, exploring connection to
land, food sovereignty, spirituality and people’s relationships in community & ecology.
Rasha founded Beit e’Shai, as a way to
continue connection to her homeland – to hold in her hands the stories
and wisdom of its soil, seeds, plants, and ancestors. Through Beit
e'Shai, Rasha shares the art of Palestinian herbalism and traditional
Arabic medicine with her community here in Naarm.
Community Meal
Farmers Jemma, Jesse and Oakhill Volunteers will harvest some produce from the farm and make some soup and
warm tea to share. We would love some help in the kitchen and to setup and clean up afterwards - please email
jemma@sustain.org.au if you can come. We would like to contribute to a speaker fee for this event. If you're able
to, please contribute a minimum suggested donation of $15 to cover costs for speaker fee and basic groceries for
this and future community meals. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
