Community Workshop: Autism and ADHD in Children and Young People
Event description
Join Tara Kent for this community workshop that aims to educate and empower the parents and carers of children and young people, who have characteristics of both Autism and ADHD.
Areas the session will cover include: understanding the differences between the two neurodivergences as well as how they overlap, and impact each other, appreciating your child’s unique profile of things they might find easier or more challenging than others, strategies to help support your child, how to build your child's independence and create a supportive environment that helps them thrive, as well as strategies and insights for communicating your child's needs in various settings. Tara and the team she works with have also completed a lot of work and study understanding some of the primary characteristics of both Autism and ADHD and have developed a lot of complementary fact sheets and information about these.
While this session is primarily aimed at parents, family members and other supporters may also benefit from attending. Some young people may also wish to consider attending our sister workshop in September on “Autism & ADHD in Adulthood” along with a parent or caregiver.
Tara Kent (she/her) is Developmental Educator and the founder of Instinct Au which is an NDIS provider, with a neuroscience-based practice which focuses on brain and sensory-based strategies and early affirmation to help people listen to their own bodies and promote their authentic selves and identity. She is also an AuDHDer herself and a mother, whose raised her own family, including multiple neurodivergent children.
A link to the Zoom workshop will be emailed to you prior to the event.
If you are unable to attend at the scheduled time, please note that it will be recorded and will be available on demand. A link (valid for 30 days after the event) will be sent to all attendees the next business day after the workshop, so that you may watch it at a time that is suitable for you.
