Community Workshop: Theatre with Petra Kalive

Get out of your head and into your body! This playful workshop invites participants to reconnect with their physical selves through movement, imagination, and curiosity. Using games, improvisation, and embodied storytelling, we’ll explore how the body can be a powerful tool for expression, creativity and connection. Whether you're an experienced performer or just looking to loosen up and have fun, this workshop offers a safe and supportive space to move, laugh, take risks and play. Come as you are — all bodies, all abilities, and all levels of experience are welcome.

Join us for this free event designed for community members aged 18+, with a small donation suggested from allies to support the program.

ABOUT PETRA
Petra Kalive is driven to tell stories because they define us, connect us, and—told at the right time—have the power to transform us. Currently Artistic Director of State Theatre Company South Australia, Petra is a director and dramaturg known for her work across independent, community, education, and mainstage sectors. As Associate Director at Melbourne Theatre Company, she championed marginalised perspectives; at Union House Theatre at Melbourne University, she mentored students into the industry. She has directed and developed work for Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, Canberra Theatre Centre, Arts Centre Melbourne and many others. Her acclaimed independent credits include Taxithi, Oil Babies (NSW Premier’s Literary Awards nominee) and Emilia. A Churchill Fellow, Petra studied community-led theatre performed in professional spaces internationally in 2024 and is committed to strengthening connections between professional and community practice. Her work has been widely recognised through multiple award nominations for direction, new writing, and social impact.
