Behind the scenes sanctuary tour

Book your behind the scenes tour of New Zealand’s leading Interdependent Animal Welfare facility. 

Our animals are not on exhibit-they are healing. On this special guided experience, you’ll:

• Go behind the scenes into areas not normally open to the public.

• Meet incredible rescued animals and hear their survival stories.

• Learn how HUHA rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all species.

• Discover how you can be part of the solution.

• Meet a diverse range of species from guinea pigs, ducks, geese, turtles to goats, pigs and ponies.

This is your chance to witness compassion in action and to connect deeply with the animals whose lives you help change.

Children: Please note children are welcome to come on this tour but must be accompanied by a guardian who will be asked to sign a waiver form to acknowledge that they will take responsibility for the child whilst on site.

Rescheduling: Please note that we need to book a minimum of 4 people per tour. If we don't meet that threshold for the date you have booked or if there are adverse weather conditions on the day we will contact you and give you the choice of rescheduling or receiving a refund.

Where are we? Our Sanctuary is based in the Hayward Hills, about 30 minutes north of Wellington.

How to get here: Our sanctuary is positioned at the very top of the world (with gorgeous views of Wellington on a good day). We are situated about 2km up a very steep bumpy, unsealed driveway so please keep that in mind and keep to the 20km/h speed limit as you approach. Our sanctuary is not currently accessible by public transport.

What to bring: Please bring your own snacks, drink bottle, gumboots, sunscreen/ hat and raincoat.
