Compassionate Cafe
Event description
The Compassionate Cafe is a free* online forum dedicated to support well-being through connection in community throughout the extended Covid pandemic.
Recommended participant age is mature 16+.
A dedicated youth event (u18) will be held separately.Â
This is a facilitated event.
The Compassionate Cafe provides an inclusive, compassionate and caring environment for the discussion of health and well being options to support people in our community.
In particular, discussions around mindfulness, home based accessible exercise, hobbies, activities and diet which supports personal health and well-being are encouraged. Conversations exploring ways in which we can cope with fear and accept the fullness of life's experiences in a positive way are encouraged.
We invite participants to share personal strategies which have helped them manage stress and stay healthy during challenging times in life.
The Compassionate Cafe is not a counselling service.Â
People needing urgent mental health interventions are strongly encouraged to seek appropriate support. Regional emergency support contacts can be found here. National services can be found on the Beyond Blue website.
Guidelines for participation:
- We support inclusion, compassion and caring attitudes and action.
- We support mental health and well-being through active listening.
- We support physical health and well-being by sharing strategies which we have found useful our personal health.
- We listen for stories which give participants a sense of personal empowerment and achievement.
- We listen without judgement.
- Personal health choices are accepted.
- This is not a forum for inciting exclusion; for venting or inciting hatred against government or community members for perceived actions or inaction
*A sliding scale ticketing option is provided for participants to offer payment if they choose to.
