Description

If you have an interest or experience in, either personally or profesionally, around living with a serious illness, dying, caring or grieving, this session is for you.

In 2018 Care Beyond Cure Ltd held a public meeting and workshop around creating compassionate communities.

It was jointly facilitated with Health Promotion North West and formed part of an activity associated with an 18-month Research Project at the time.

Eight years on, we revisit the process. This will include identifying what is working, what isn't, and how as a community, we can work together to further develop ideas within a health promoting palliative care framework aka Compassionate Communities.

Guest Speaker via Zoom: Shannon's Bridge

"Death is a social event with a medical component, not a medical event with a social component. The larger part of dying happens outside of the institution and professional care" Professor Allan Kellehear. Also known as the 95% rule.

For the West Coast and far North West communities unable to attend on the day, feedback options will be availble in the August edition of the Western Echo
