Event description

Join Us in Celebrating International Compost Awareness Week!

From May 5th to May 11th, in honor of International Compost Awareness Week, Penrith City Council is excited to offer free bags of compost on Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 May, 2024 to our residents.

What's Inside:

The compost you'll receive is crafted from organic material collected through our green-lidded Food Organic Garden Organic (FOGO) bins. This nutrient-rich compost is carefully processed and utilized throughout our community to enrich soil quality and foster vibrant plant growth in parks, gardens, and sporting fields.

How to Claim Your Compost:

Register Online:

Complete the online event registration to secure your ticket. Be sure to select a date and time slot that works for you to collect your two complimentary bags of compost. Tickets are exclusively available to residents of the Penrith City Council local government area, with one ticket allocated per household.

Pickup Location:

Head to The Kingsway Playing Fields car park, Werrington, at your designated date and time slot. Bring along either a printed or digital copy of your ticket and proof of residency (matching addresses), such as a driver's license, rates notice, or utility bill.

Collection Process:

Arrive within your chosen collection period to receive your compost. Upon verification of your ticket and residency proof, our friendly Council staff will assist in loading two bags of compost into your vehicle. Please ensure sufficient space in your boot or back seat to accommodate the bags.

Concerns regarding asbestos contamination in mulch:
We want to assure our participants that the compost provided by Australian Native Landscape is thoroughly vetted and certified. We have no association with Greenlife Resource Recovery Pty Ltd, which is currently under investigation by the EPA for the use of bonded asbestos-contaminated mulch in public spaces.
