Compost Making at DEG 18th Oct 2025
Event description
Join Duncraig Edible Gardeners to make a compost pile.
Compost uses waste products which can cost nothing
and turns them into a nutrient-rich microbial life-enhancing soil amendment which is priceless!
Jim is Duncraig Edible Garden's Master compost maker. Under his guidance you will participate in making this next batch of the secret ingredient for continuing productivity at Duncraig Edible Garden. Learn how to make compost and take the information home to apply at your place.
We will construct one of Jim's famous moist compost layer cakes, which will feed the soil in the garden for months to come.
Please bring any organic garden waste, shredded paper, cardboard you would like to contribute to the compost cake.
Meet with us in the garden near the forecourt of the Duncraig Public library. We will begin at about 9am.
Wear clothing suitable for the weather and the task. (closed shoes for toe safety, a hat, and clothes which you won't mind getting grubby). We advise bringing and wearing a mask. The rabbit hay we will be using has mold spores.
Bring a mug for your drink and any food you'd like to contribute to our shared morning tea at about 10.30am. Workshop participation is always free for Duncraig Edible Garden current financial members.
