Composting Methods, Teas, and Extracts: A Sustainable Approach to Gardening
As a gardener, one of the most crucial aspects of nurturing a thriving garden is maintaining healthy soil. Thankfully, composting offers a sustainable solution by recycling organic waste into nutrient-rich humus. Let's dive into various composting methods, including the utilization of compost teas and extracts, to enhance the fertility of our gardens.

We will cover a range of methods including:
-Traditional Composting: This method involves layering organic matter, such as kitchen scraps, yard waste, and plant trimmings, in a compost bin or pile. The key is to maintain a balanced carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. Regular turning and occasional watering will accelerate decomposition, leading to the creation of black gold — nutrient-dense compost that loosens soil structure and enhances its water-holding capacity.
-Vermicomposting: Worms are nature's efficient composting machines. Vermicomposting utilizes special composting worms, like red wigglers, to break down organic waste into dark, nutrient-rich vermicast. A dedicated worm bin offers an ideal environment for these worms to thrive. By feeding them kitchen scraps and bedding material like shredded newspaper, gardeners can acquire a highly concentrated and beneficial form of compost.
    - Compost Teas: Compost teas are liquid fertiliser derived from steeping compost in water. They provide plants with an instant boost of nutrients and beneficial microbial life.
    - Compost Extracts: Similar to compost teas, compost extracts harness the beneficial properties of compost but are made with a different process. Instead of steeping compost in water, organic matter is blended with water

The second half of the day will be more hands on in the farm putting your theory into practice while build a Johnson Su Bioreactor. (Static fungal composting) As well as Aerobic Thermal Compost
