Here is your chance to learn conducting – even conduct a real live quintet! Register now for a 3-day short course led by Omid Moheb-Zadeh, Principal Conductor of the Sydney Concert Orchestra. This intensive workshop offers a rare opportunity to move beyond individual practice and experience conducting professional musicians. Ideal for aspiring conductors and instrumentalists wanting to deepen their musical understanding.

3-Day Course Program
DAY 1: FOUNDATIONS
Conducting techniques: posture, baton hold, preparatory beat
Listening skills: hearing entries, tempo & ensemble balance
Beat patterns: conducting in 2, 3 & 4
Score reading: multiple staves, clefs & score layout
DAY 2: EXPRESSION & THE SCORE
Left-hand gestures: cueing, dynamics & shaping sound
Style & interpretation: refining gesture, articulation & stylistic awareness
Expressing time: tempo, fermatas & changes
Rehearsal craft: communication, leadership & techniques
DAY 3: PODIUM & PERFORMANCE
Podium time: conduct peers with feedback
Final rehearsal: conducting with a quintet from the SCO
Final preparation: includes Q&A with Omid
Student concert: invite your family to your live performance!

Minimum Level: AMEB Grade 6 (or equivalent)

- Is there parking available at the venue?
There is no guest parking available on-site. All parking spaces at the front of the building are strictly reserved for authorised building personnel only. We recommend the following nearby street parking options:

- What is the best way to get there by public transport?
Master Music Studio is a 5-minute walk from the Glebe Light Rail station or a 6-minute walk from the Wentworth Park Light Rail Station.
- Where is the entrance to the venue?
The studio is located at Unit 6, 80 Wentworth Park Rd, Glebe. The main entrance is accessible directly from Wentworth Park Road. Please look for the Master Music Studio signage upon arrival.
