CONFLICT IN THE BODY: How Attachment & The Nervous System Impacts Your Relationships

A potent workshop on our bodily experience of conflict.

As beings that have survived and evolved through social bonding, relationships are deeply important to us on a biological level. Because of this, the presence of conflict in our relationships can activate our threat/survival responses - fight, flight, freeze, and fawn.

Learning to understand, track, and support your nervous system responses and your attachment system will help you navigate conflict with more clarity, compassion, and connection.

This workshop is for you if you:

Have strong embodied reactions to conflict that you don’t know what to do with
Struggle in certain relationships more than others and don’t understand why
Don’t want to bypass your body in order to show up for hard conversations
Want a deeper understanding of attachment & the nervous system
Desire more somatic practices for navigating conflict

The workshop offers a balance of teaching and integration with slides, journaling prompts, guided somatic exercises, and space for questions, reflections, and discussion.

This offering draws on teachings from Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Attachment Therapy (course with The Embody Lab), and Unwinding the Trauma Conflict Web (course with Education for Racial Equity).

Logistics:

This workshop will be recorded.

The recording will be shared with all workshop participants and may also be shared publicly in the future, in an on-demand format. More information will be shared with participants, with the option for you to request that your personal shares are taken out of public recordings.

PRICING:

$25 - $70 sliding scale.

Sliding Scale Guidance: A sliding scale is an equity-based payment structure where the participant’s financial situation informs the rate they pay for a service.

Choose a rate on the low end ($25-40) of the sliding scale if you:

Do not have a financial safety net
Have student loans or other large debts
Are Black, Indigenous, or otherwise systemically disadvantaged based on your identities

Choose a rate in the middle ($40-55) of the sliding scale if you:

Can go out to eat without thinking about your finances
Have a salaried job with benefits
Have family that would financially support you if you needed it

Choose a rate on the high end ($55-70) of the sliding scale if you:

Own property or other significant assets
Make over $100K per year
Never feel scared of not having enough

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Lux Gypsum is a community organizer, relational healer, and cultural visionary who believes that revolution happens at the level of relationship. With over 9 years of facilitation experience and dozens of trainings under their belt, Lux has cultivated a strong capacity to hold potent group containers for interpersonal skill-building and cultural transformation. Some of Lux’s politicized identities are white (Northern European ancestry), AFAB, non-binary, and queer. Lux has an ongoing practice of anti-racism work and is committed to uprooting internalized supremacy culture. They are also becoming more deeply trauma-informed through receiving training in Somatic Experiencing, a scientifically proven body-based modality for healing trauma. In addition to holding regular community workshops and events, Lux also serves the community as a Conflict Mediator, Relationship Coach, and Community Consultant, supporting individuals, couples, and groups to embody the world they long to live in.
