    Event description

Join a stellar panel of experts in this FREE WEBINAR presented by CEVAW

TOPIC: Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in the Indo-Pacific: Reporting, Advocacy and Justice

The United Nations General Assembly declared 19 June as the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. The day aims to raise awareness of the need to end conflict-related sexual violence, to honour victims and survivors, and pay tribute to those who dedicated their lives to and lost their lives in standing up for the elimination of these crimes.

CEVAW will host a 90-minute webinar with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region as a site of conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence. The webinar will hear experiences from actors engaged in reporting, advocacy, and justice across five locations in the Indo-Pacific region: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines, and discuss priorities for realising a survivor-centred response across different contexts within the
    region.

In this webinar, we will discuss:

    • How roles and situations differ in advocating and/or responding to conflict-related sexual violence.
    • Challenges that survivors experience in accessing survivor-centred services in this context.
    • What more can and should be done to effectively implement survivor-centred approaches.
    • How we (as researchers and practitioners) collectively create a community of practice dedicated to victims-survivors of sexual violence in conflicts.
