Jerrabomberra Wetlands, 2 Dairy Road, Fyshwick ACT 2609

As part of the Tracing the Sky exhibition program, we invite you to step outside the gallery and into the living, breathing landscape of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands for Wonder Walks—a guided, immersive experience led by leading ecologist and restoration expert Lori Gould.

The wetlands are not just a sanctuary for wildlife—they are places of movement, memory, and connection. Through Wonder Walks, participants will journey into one of Canberra’s most vital and vibrant ecosystems, discovering the migratory stories of birds like the Latham’s Snipe, a species that travels thousands of kilometres between Australia and Japan. Along the way, you'll learn how wetlands like Jerrabomberra act as ecological lifelines and cultural mirrors, echoing the larger themes of migration, resilience, and interconnection explored in the exhibition.

Your guide, Lori Gould, brings over 25 years of experience in environmental restoration and landscape planning. A riparian specialist and community advocate, Lori has led large-scale ecological projects across Australia and worked extensively at Jerrabomberra Wetlands, developing public engagement programs and restoring native habitats. She is currently completing a PhD on migratory birds, and holds degrees in Environmental Science, River Restoration, and Integrated Water Management. Her walks are rich with insight, grounded in science, and infused with her deep love for wetlands and the species they sustain.

Whether you're a seasoned birdwatcher, a curious explorer, or someone seeking a deeper connection to place, Wonder Walks offers a rare opportunity to see the wetlands through expert eyes—and to walk alongside the stories of migration that shape our shared world.

Through striking illustrations and public installations, they educate audiences on the importance of protecting birdlife and biodiversity. Their work has been featured on the Harbour Bridge Pylons and the Argyle Cut for Vivid Sydney, and at Australian Parliament House for Enlighten, connecting people with nature through storytelling, and a deep commitment to conservation.
