Connecting Regional Queensland: Sustainable Schools Summit is delivered by the Sustainable Schools Network Limited and our partners Glowing Green Australia, Solar Schools, the Australian Association of Environmental Education (QLD Chapter: AAEE), Kids Teaching Kids and the Reef Guardians School Program.Â
Held online on 19 October 2020 from 9am until 3pm, this event is open to all North and Far North Queensland Schools.   The event aims include:
- Showcase leading local schools including Reef Guardian Schools
- Empower youth leadership by implementing the Kids Teaching Kids model
- Deliver education for sustainability professional development for the whole school community
- Enable regional connectivity
- Raise awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Learning experiences are designed for students, teachers, parents and school leaders/business service managers. The day commences at 9am with a keynote plenary featuring none other than the #FightForPlanetA Host Craig Reucassel and inspiring youth leader Holley Sommerville Knott. You will also hear from the SSN and Founding Director of Solar Schools Rob Breuer. Â
After a short break we will break into workshops featuring youth facilitators using the Kids Teaching Kids model, the Reef Guardians Schools Program, Larissa Rose, AAEE, the SSN and Solar Schools.
To end the day local schools will share their sustainability stories in the school showcase. It will be an inspiring way to end the day as we identify what is possible when Educating for Sustainability.
