Consent - The conversation you need to be having
Event description
Tailored for adults and those who support young people (parents, carers, workers) this FREE introductory level webinar offers essential insights into understanding and discussing affirmative consent in relationships.
When we think about consent, sometimes it can be about the negative side and how getting it wrong can lead to serious consequences. But talking about consent shouldn't start when things go wrong or when people become sexually active, it needs to start early to help develop and navigate personal boundaries and safe and respectful relationships confidently.
Join us as we explore:
- Victoria's new Affirmative Consent Laws including stealthing and image-based abuse
- what the new laws mean for you and the young people in your life or work
- when, why and how to talk about affirmative consent and staying safe in relationships
- tips to answer the tricky questions that young people tend to ask
- how to respond if a young person discloses a sexual offence to you
By equipping ourselves and young people with the knowledge and tools we need we will be more empowered to navigate relationships with confidence and integrity and to have healthy, respectful connections and boundaries in our lives.
This workshop is relevant for parents, sports clubs, educators, primary prevention practitioners, people working with families and young people and more.
