    Event description

CONSERVING NATURE DURING THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Join ACF Brisbane South & Logan for a special Conversations for Conservation (C4C) in September with Queensland Conservation Council’s specialist Energy Strategist Clare Silcock, who will kick off the conversation with a short presentation focussing on:

    • renewable energy as the best way we have to reduce emissions and protect Queensland's unique nature from the Reef to mountains to rainforest
    • building renewable energy in a way that protects nature and benefits communities, by fixing our planning frameworks and engaging communities in their energy future
    • in cities, this means exploring new ways to use energy efficiently, rooftop solar panels, household and community batteries and electric vehicles to reduce bills and emissions and help the grid

Clare is working hard to speed up the replacement of coal fired power stations with clean energy. As an experienced renewable energy engineer, she has worked in London, and now Brisbane, for more than a decade in electricity market modelling, zero carbon transition planning and community energy development.
Her ideal world is one with community ownership of renewable energy, where most things are within cycling distance and we have more time for soccer and trumpet playing!
