Constellations
Description
In partnership with the Superposition Festival and the Linden Observatory Trust, Modern Art Projects Blue Mountains (MAPBM) presents Constellations, an evening of song, performance, moving image and star gazing at the historic Linden Observatory.
At dusk audience participation is encouraged as we sing celestial songs led by the Basic Pitch Choir and local musician Daniel Morphett (El Duende) in addition to performing his own work.
As the Sun sets, day transitions into deepening night, the stars in the sky are slowly revealed and artist Maëlyse Léculier plays other worldly sounds of the Aeolian Harp, transforming wind into music. Twilight Passage suspends us in the crossing from light to dark, from one world over to into the next - a meditation on that brief and magical moment in between.
Artists Carolyn Eccles and Sean O'Keeffe as DARKroom present APUS. Linden Observatory offers APUS a return to the night sky. Reconsidered for this remarkable place of astronomical observation, and heritage, the work brings image, movement, landscape and celestial imagination into dialogue, allowing the observatory itself to become an active presence within the unfolding work.
This is an opportunity to visit and enjoy this unique site of astronomical research. The Linden Observatory will run tours of the dome and night sky viewing. https://www.lindenobservatory.org.au/ Linden Observatory will run a fundraising sausage sizzle, bring a picnic rug and settle in.
