Constructing a Wicking Bed Workshop

In case you don’t know by now, wicking beds are the easiest, most water efficient way of growing produce in your backyard. 

Wicking beds and pots water themselves from a reservoir below the soil and are a great DIY project for the water smart gardener. 

You can of course buy them, but why do that when you can make your own for a fraction of the cost using recycled and repurposed materials. 

Let me show you how to make them, using several different methods  and then you can decide what works best for you. This workshop is for the DIY-er or person with a handy partner.

Through a practical demonstration, this workshop will introduce the principles involved and give you the know how build a wicking garden system at home.

This workshop includes a delicious morning/afternoon tea or coffee and a slice of #SophiesPatch famous homemade cakes.

What to bring

Sensible walking shoes
Hat and water bottle

Notebook and pen

Please note: A moderate level of fitness is required, as the tour involves walking on uneven, unsteady ground and non-level paths.
