Consultation for Strengthening Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Workforce Pathways - For Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander workers (Online) May 2026
Description
Join a statewide consultation exploring how our sector can better attract and retain Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander workers.
We know the importance of building a workforce that reflects the communities we work alongside.
Come along and share your insights on how we can best strengthen attraction & retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers in Queensland’s Domestic and Family Violence, Sexual Violence, and Women’s Health and Wellbeing sectors.
As part of this project, WorkUP Queensland alongside Wave of Change Consultancy are hosting online consultations to hear directly from people working across the sector.
These sessions will explore current workforce challenges, what is already working well, and what practical opportunities could better support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers to enter and thrive in our sector.
Consultations will be facilitated in a culturally safe and strengths-based way, with dedicated sessions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers, as well as an open session for managers and leaders. This approach ensures Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers have space to share their perspectives and experiences, while also supporting managers and leaders to reflect on organisational responsibilities, recruitment practices, workplace culture and retention strategies.
Your contribution will help build a clearer picture of what is needed across the sector and where practical workforce development opportunities may be possible.
We invite you to join a session and contribute your insights, experiences and ideas!
