“Transferring Weight”

A day of somatic awareness and self inquiries 

This Workshop welcomes people who are new to the form as well as long term practictioners. It introduces a basic vocabulary around moving together with touch and shared weight in a way that feels more effortless and free. A core question will be 'how to transfer weight?' How to stay listening and manouevrable when we meet in the touch, with little and also more weight, maybe a small lift.

‘The breathing point of contact’ - what could that mean when we surf through these journeys together? 

Lot’s of questions that are more valuable than fixed answers. We’ll be dancing quite a lot to let some answers find us.

Indeed, we will connect in the mystery of Contact, and meet the clunkiness with curiosity and openness. Ultimately we aim to move from awkward and unsure of 'what to do next' into freedom to play and move beyond edges. This workshop will support you in understanding the fundamental basics of transferring / sharing weight. From here, you can deepen into your Contact Improv practice with more confidence. From here, the possibilities open up in your dance.

$120 normal

$150 supporting others

$90 concession rate

TIME 10am-5pm with a 90min break.
