Simple Steps to Healthier Awa Together

Event description

Our beautiful Whau River is a stunning natural asset that many people live, work or play on or near every day. But its health is at risk from pollutants such as microplastics and chemicals.

The good news is that there are simple things you can do to help reduce these risks. And those small actions do add up, when our community comes together to protect this precious taonga.

In this webinar, the scientists behind two major studies into the effects of emerging pollutants on the health of our waterways will share what they’ve learned so far and how these results can help shape the actions we can take.

You’ll hear from some of those who use and enjoy the Whau every day about why this river is important to them and learn more about its historical and cultural significance to local iwi Te Kawerau a Maki.

Then take part in a lively discussion with the opportunity to ask our presenters questions about what you’ve heard and contribute thoughts on what we can all do to protect and preserve this natural taonga.

Finally, there’ll be ideas on simple, easy to action ways to reduce the risk of further pollution, so we can all enjoy our local awa for many years to come.

Interested but can't make the scheduled time and date? Please register anyway, as this webinar will be recorded and the video recording shared later with everyone who has registered.
