Part II Contemporary Witchcraft
Part II Contemporary Witchcraft - how did witchcraft go from a year-and-a-day wait or reading/research to a social media feed that decides you’re a witch? Not a rant about TikTok witches, but the most likely story of what the internet, social media, commodification and AI have done to the Craft in the last 25yrs, with all its trends, borrowed ideas and invented practices. And where does that leave contemporary witchcraft in Australia today?
This free 60min talk (plus breaks) will explore the development of contemporary witchcraft from 2000 onwards and look at what specifically has influenced the Australian witchcraft and pagan scene as it exists today.
No prior knowledge needed. Just bring yourself and any questions you might have. We'll allow plenty of time for breaks, questions, and interaction.
Who is it for?
Anyone curious about what contemporary witchcraft looks like, especially in the Australian context - new practitioners welcome.
If you learned the Craft from a book, a coven or a very sus-looking wise old mentor, you're welcome to mutter under your breath 'back in my day' or 'get off my lawn'.
If you learned it from your feed, you'll probably feel very comfortable here.
And lastly, if you can spot an AI-generated spell or meme from across the room, come and play bingo ;-)
Free to attend. Space limited to 15seats in person. Actual seating limited - please bring a folding chair or stool.
