Continuing Professional Development: Interpersonal neurobiology and the Autistic brain
Event description
Interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) is an interdisciplinary field of study that combines psychology, anthropology and neuroscience, among others, to develop a somatic, psychosocial, psychobiological and emotional understanding of an individual and their mind.
When understood in combination with a strengths-based, neurodiversity perspective of Autism, IPNB allows non-autistic practitioners unprecedented access to Autistic neurology. Through such access, professionals can support organic Autistic forms of sensory processing, socialising, empathy, theory of mind, and attachment security from an evidence-informed brain connectivity and integration approach.
This online, continuing professional development, workshop, run by Autistic researcher, Dr Melanie Heyworth, will introduce you to IPNB and its application to understanding the Autistic brain. The purpose of the workshop is to provide professionals with a deeper understanding of Autism, so that they can provide more respectful, empathetic, and, ultimately successful, support.
Please note that whilst this workshop is an introduction to IPNB, it will assume a thorough knowledge of Autism and neurodiversity. We recommend that professionals undertake Reframing Autism's introductory professional development workshop before enrolling in continuing PD opportunities.
If you are unable to attend this workshop at the scheduled time; please note that it will be recorded. A link will be sent to all attendees after it has taken place, so that you may watch it at a time that is suitable for you.
