This one-day training program equips participants with essential contract management skills, from initial planning through contract closeout. Participants will learn best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and practical tools for managing contracts effectively throughout their lifecycle. Participants will develop practical skills to effectively oversee contract performance, manage relationships, and ensure successful contract outcomes.

This course is part of our supplier performance suite which also includes Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Development.

Key inclusions for this training

  • Contract fundamentals: definition and purpose of a contract, the elements to form a contract and different types of contracts. Identify key obligations, deliverables and milestones. We will also explore roles and responsibilities.

  • Setting up the contract for success: a look at the contract management framework and establishing a successful contract. Stakeholder identification and communication protocols including the governance structure. Managing key documentation and records and including performance measurement.

  • The contract management lifecycle: we explore developing a contract, mobilising and onboarding suppliers and contract users, setting them up for success and establishing a clear baseline to measure against.

  • Operational framework establishment: performance monitoring, quality assurance, managing issues and conducting review meetings.

  • Managing performance: KPI's and SLAs, relationship management and reporting.

  • Financial management: invoice verification and payment processing, budget control, value realisation and benefit tracking.

  • Issue resolution and contract variations: change request identification and assessment, impact analysis (cost, time, quality, risk), change approval processes and documentation. Early warning signs and systems, basic problem solving and escalation procedures.

  • Risk management: monitoring and tracking risk.

  • Transition and close out: transition strategy planning, knowledge and asset transfer, reconciliation and final performance tracking including internal review and lessons learned.
