GNH Conversation with Julia Kim and Wesel Dema

Small Giants Academy and Gross National Happiness centre Australia is excited to host 'Conversations with Extraordinary People' webinar with Julia Kim and Wesel Dema.

Join us for an engaging dialogue exploring the heart of Gross National Happiness (GNH) and its transformative potential.

Julia will share her profound experiences from Bhutan, offering insight into what GNH means to her personally and how it shapes happiness and everyday life. She’ll also discuss the possibility of adapting the GNH Index to Western societies and share her most valuable learnings from Bhutan.

Wesel will reflect on her time working at the GNH Centre Bhutan, the real-world implementation of GNH, and the challenges that come with sustaining these values. She will also share her experiences of maintaining GNH principles while living in Australia.

The session will conclude with an interactive Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask your own questions and delve deeper into the practical application of GNH in today’s world.

Meet Julia Kim:

Dr. Julia Kim is a global wellbeing and Wellbeing Economics expert, program facilitator, and researcher. She is an explorer of the terrain connecting inner transformation and broader systems change, drawing on her past career as a physician and public health researcher in Africa and Asia, Senior Policy Advisor at the United Nations (UNDP and UNICEF), Executive Committee member of the Club of Rome, and  International Program Leader at the GNH Centre Bhutan. She integrates global experience in the fields of leadership development, contemplative practice, program design, research, and policy in the fields of wellbeing, wellbeing economics, global health, and sustainable development.

Meet Wesel Dema:

Wesel has recently joined the Small Giants team in Australia after serving as the Program Officer at the Gross National Happiness Centre Bhutan. At GNHCB, she worked  in developing youth programs to promote GNH values in schools and colleges both within Bhutan and internationally. Her passion is rooted in advocating for GNH principles in everyday life. Wesel now lives in Albury, NSW.
