Cool the Country
Event description
Did you know that the majority of our extreme heat events start in a region meteorologists call “the heat engine of Australia”, and spread from there across the country?
Why aren’t we talking about it? Why aren’t we thinking about ways to fix the problem?
“Cool the Country” is a series of 4 short videos that don’t just explain the heat engine and its impacts, they then look, step by step, at simple, proven science and land care that could transform the region.
The story shows how regenerating the landscape can save billions of dollars NOW, and mitigate against flood and drought in the future.
And it explains how we can make Australia wetter, greener and cooler AGAIN… just like it was only 6 or 7 thousand years ago (the last time atmospheric CO2 and water vapour were at similar levels to what they are now).
Come see the premier screening and discussion with director Ad Long and host Laura Wells, and join in the Q & A afterwards.
