Cooper Lower invites you to a showcase in Gadigal/Sydney
Description
Cooper Lower is performing at KR Studios, as part of a string of intimate solo showcases he has curated around the world. He will be returning from UK/IRE and will grace the stage in Gadigal/Sydney to celebrate the release of his single ‘Initiations’.
With work spanning the soundtrack of a #1 Netflix feature film, to twice named finalist for Folk Alliance Youth Artist of the Year, a resident busker at Trafalgar Square in London, Cooper brings refreshingly introspective perspective to songwriting, echoing folk sensibilities of Hozier and Dermot Kennedy, with gentle lyricism likened to Lizzy McAlpine.
His performance makes you feel as if you’re being welcomed into someone’s innermost thoughts, incorporating beautiful lyricism coupled with classic singer-songwriter guitars, shattered by moments of tense, jittery noise that explodes to the forefront.
He shifts between naked stillness and something much bigger; exploring grief, rage, longing and heartbreak, right alongside vitality, desire and love. It’s all held together by Cooper’s vocals, delivered with conviction.
Joining him on the night is Jamie Lena Kerslake; a unique alt-folk/soul artist, songwriter and instrumentalist from Kaurna country (Adelaide). She will be celebrating the first single from her upcoming album that unravels the snags of relationships, grief, rage, politics, all wrapped up in a voice of milk and honey.
The artists welcome you in the space, to share an evening of storytelling and songs.
