Copper Coast Peri-natal Mental Health Week event
Description
Hold the Parent: Perinatal Mental Health Week, 22 – 28 November
When a baby arrives, support naturally gathers around them. The baby is held, soothed and checked in on. But the parent behind the baby may be struggling, overwhelmed or feeling alone.
Whether someone is trying to conceive, experiencing miscarriage, expecting a baby, navigating the early years of parenthood, or grieving the loss of a baby, they may need support too. A conversation, a moment of understanding, a helping hand, or simply someone who sees them.
Each year, 1 in 5 mums and 1 in 10 dads experience perinatal depression and anxiety. That’s around 100,000 Australian parents who may need someone to hold them through it.
On Monday 23rd November in collaboration with the Copper Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, Yorkes Mum Walks and with the support of Sonder (play our way program) and our wonderful local businesses) you are invited to join us for a supportive community gathering in honor of Perinatal Mental Health Week.
This event is a dedicated, judgment-free space designed to bring expectant parents, new parents, and families together. Whether you are navigating the "baby blues," managing perinatal anxiety or depression, or simply looking to connect with others who truly understand the highs and lows of this chapter, you are welcome here.
Come exactly as you are—babies, bumps, tears, and laughs are all welcome.
What to Expect
Community Connection: Meet and share stories with other local parents in a warm, relaxed environment. If weather permits the intention is for Jess from Yorkes Mums Walks to lead us on a stroll along the local walking trail to begin the event.
Expert Insights: An opportunity to connect with Tamara from Blooming Bridge Therapy, a local perinatal mental health professional and discuss gentle strategies for self-care, mental wellness, and navigating identity shifts.
Activities for your little ones: Through Sonder's 'Play your way' program a fee free Kinderfun session will be available for your little ones to keep active and explore once we return from the walk.
