Sustainable House Day is an event presented by Renew that provides the opportunity to explore some of Australia’s most inspiring homes, and learn from the people who designed them, built them, and live in them.

About this home

This humble suburban unit has been transformed into a sustainable home that is comfortable and climate resilient home. When the owners outgrow this home, the next owners will be able to build on the efforts over the last 6 years, which include:
- Solar - 3.6kW PV solar system with micro-inverters has produced 20.2MWh over its lifetime
- Off Gas - replaced gas storage hot water with 300L heat pump, replaced gas cooktop with induction, removed ducted gas heating and abolished gas connection
- Switched to reverse cycle air conditioning split systems for heating & cooling - installed one additional 2kW split system when we removed ducted gas heating
- Lighting - replaced 20+ halogen downlights with fewer LEDs
- Doors - draft sealed
- Windows - draft sealed, north and west facing windows shaded with external blinds, heavy drapes added to bedrooms
- Ceiling - patched after removing ducted heating vents and halogen downlights, original ceiling insulation replaced with new R7.0 batts
- Walls - exterior walls insulated
- Home Energy Management - scheduled heat pump reheat cycle to midday to soak up solar generation, Sensibo smart devices to automate our air-conditioning to react to pre-set climate triggers or remotely flex our AC and pre-cool on Peak Demand event days.

You will need to book a ticket for a specific tour time. This is due to capacity restraints set by the homeowner to ensure the safety of all parties on the day. If you do not arrive at this time you will not be able to tour the home. 

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE TICKETS AT THE HOME.

The exact house address will be emailed to you in the days before the event. Suburb and postcode information is displayed on your ticket. 

Renew is a small not for profit organisation that needs to raise money from ticket sales to cover the costs of hosting this event. In some cases the ticket revenue may also be split with the homeowner.
