Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - this workshop prepares participants to provide suicide-first aid. ASIST is an internationally recognised training program where participants learn how to identify people with thoughts of suicide, understand how beliefs and attitudes can affect suicide intervention and a practical guide to doing suicide interventions through the Pathways for Assisting Life (PAL) model.
- Identify people who have thoughts of suicide.
- Understand how beliefs and attitudes can affect suicide interventions.
- Understand a person at risk’s story about suicide and recognise turning points
- Conduct a safety assessment and develop a safe-for-now plan
- Confirm the person at risk’s faith in the safe plan and their intent to follow it through Â
ASIST is a two-day workshop that runs from 9am until 5pm both days. Attendance to both days is compulsory to achieve accreditation.
