Workplaces can be a lifeline for employees experiencing domestic violence. In preparation for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month 2025, Broken to Brilliant Founders Kate
Crowley Smith and Andrea Miller will share their lived experiences of workplace support and its life-changing impact.
This session will equip business leaders with practical strategies to support affected employees, from fostering a safe work environment to recognising warning signs and making appropriate
referrals. By taking action, workplaces can empower survivors, drive change, and help break the cycle of domestic violence.

Professional Bio:
Kate Crowley is the Founding Director of Broken to Brilliant, a not-for-profit charity where survivors mentor fellow domestic violence survivors to rebuild their
lives. With a strong background in nursing, health promotion, injury prevention, and domestic violence recovery, she develops clinical education and training for
Queensland Health and holds multiple qualifications, including a Postgraduate Certificate in Domestic Violence Response.
As a survivor and mother of two, Kate has supported her son and daughter in their business ventures. She is dedicated to empowering survivors to recognise
their achievements, rebuild their lives, and drive positive change in community attitudes toward domestic violence.
Andrea Miller is the Co-Founding Director of Broken to Brilliant. A former Royal Ballet School graduate, Andrea transitioned from a professional
ballet career to over 30 years in executive management, sales training, and business consulting across healthcare, aged care, finance, and the beauty
industry. She has spoken at conferences in Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S.
As a single mother and survivor of domestic violence, Andrea continues to develop and present training programs and has supported her sons in their
entrepreneurial ventures.
