Event description

Help Us Discover Echidnas in the Lockyer Valley!
Echidnas are one of Australia’s most unique and beloved animals - but in the Lockyer Valley, we know very little about where they are or how many remain. This free citizen science event invites locals to help change that.

You’ll learn how to monitor echidnas using motion-activated camera traps, identify their tracks and signs, and contribute to vital research that supports long-term conservation.

This event is perfect for Land for Wildlife members, local landholders, nature lovers, and anyone curious about wildlife monitoring.

Please bring a device (laptop or tablet) so that you can view camera trap images - if possible—you’ll get hands-on experience reviewing real camera trap images in the Lockyer Valley region! Still come along if you can't bring a device, we will have spare!

Why join us?

  • Learn practical skills in wildlife tracking

  • Be part of a pioneering local conservation project

  • Connect with other passionate locals

  • Help put echidnas on the map!

Let’s work together to protect this incredible species - starting here, in our own backyard.
