Card hacks for… 'Navigating Depression'

Event description

Using the evocative metaphor of the journey, each Navigating Depression card features a colourful, nature-based image on the front, accompanied by a simple question, sentence starter or strategy on the back. The five engaging, diverse characters accompany us as we explore the varied and changeable landscapes of low mood and depression.

Navigating Depression’s great strength is the broad range of interventions and modalities that have influenced its creation. As author Kate Skilbeck says, ‘We’ve drawn from an enormous body of knowledge—mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, positive psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, neuroscience—the whole field of post traumatic growth.’

The Navigating Depression cards can be used in so many ways—in groups, schools, teams or one-on-one. Their beautiful-designs and varied content means they are easy to adapt to suit the needs of the people you are working alongside.

In this 30-minute FREE online session we will explore:

  • how the cards can help build awareness, insight, and hope for the future
  • using the metaphor of the journey to help people name the different ways depression and low mood manifests for them at different times
  • how the four suits can encourage people to explore where they are now, how they got here, what helps, and what wellbeing looks like for them
  • some ways the cards can support people to create healthy, protective habits
  • using Navigating Depression in a range of settings and circumstances
  • a range of questions you can use to kick start powerful conversations.
