CEU Lunchtime Course - Regulatory Policies Impacting the Housing Sector

About the Instructor:

Michael Mittelholzer, Assistant Vice President, Environmental Policy, National Association of Home Builders

Michael joined NAHB in 1998 and serves as Assistant Vice President for Environmental Policy within NAHB’s Housing Finance and Regulatory Affairs area. In this capacity Michael oversees NAHB’s regulatory efforts concerning several federal environmental and wildlife conservation statutes that impact land development activities, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, and the Solid Waste Disposal Act.

Michael has served on several federal advisory committees and taskforces concerning a wide variety of environmental issues including implementation of the Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, and development of EPA’s negotiated rulemaking for the “all appropriate inquiry” as part of the federal brownfields law.

Prior to joining NAHB, Michael worked for the State of Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). While at MDE, he worked in the Office of the Secretary advising businesses on environmental permitting requirements necessary to locate manufacturing and commercial operations within the State of Maryland.

Michael has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and U.S. History from Goucher College and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Johns Hopkins University.
