Event description

Bluegum Bushcraft runs rewilding programmes on the NSW South Coast. We acknowledge the Traditional custodians and owners of this whole area, the Dharawal, Jerrinja and Yuin people. We acknowledge traditional custodians of the entire continent. We ask permission from these custodians to help people, in the ways that we can, to deepen into their relationships with the living earth and walk with respect and deep listening to the wisdom of the country and all its inhabitants and protectors.

Bluegum Bushcraft's camps run every school holidays. Families camp together in a big field in the Budawang Wilderness area on the NSW South Coast (just near Pigeonhouse Mountain).
The kids spend four hours each morning on the Rewild Your Child programme, discovering nature connection with a team of experienced mentors. The mentors use 'dingo mentoring'; asking questions to allow the kids to discover their own realities. We all learn and play together. Bushcraft skills, storytelling and nature awareness combine to create an empowering learning experience.
While the kids are off in the bush camp they built (complete with a monkey gym, numerous bush shelters, places to make fire, learn tracking, whittle, practice throwing spears) the adults get to relax next to the pristine river, having cups of tea, and participating in whatever activities unfold during the week.
The kids come back at lunchtime, and in the afternoons the field is full of kids playing, making cool things, there are games with the adults, an impromptu flashmob party... and then the dingo howl goes out for a communal dinner and stories from the day around the fire.
During the week, your kids will learn the skills, and the attitude, necessary to feel truly safe and at home in the bush. They'll also absorb the 'meta-skills' for success in any environment, things like: curiosity; communication; problem-solving; awareness; teamwork and responsibility. And they'll do all this while having the time of their lives, under the careful guidance of trained mentors.
Your family will grow together, and deepen into the experience of living in a village where we commit to look after each other, no matter what. Singing around the campfire in three part harmony, cups of tea under the longhouse, making new friends and connecting with old ones... the journey of village life is a rich and rewarding experience.
We can't wait to see you in the wild places.
