Cultural burn with Duduroa Dhargal Aboriginal Corporation
Event description
Join Duduroa Elders Uncle Allan Murray & Uncle Phil Murray to learn about cultural burning and how fire is being reintroduced into contemporary land management for the healing of Culture & Country.
The Elders will burn an area of native grasslands and speak about the benefits of cultural burning practices, fire as a tool to maintain healthy ecosystems and protect Country, and how cultural burning relates to bushfire hazard reduction, weed management and biodiversity.
You will also learn about how you can carry out a cool burn, including interpreting Country for burning, site preparation, application of cool burning and 'blacking out' or securing the site after a burn.
Lunch provided.
This event will take place at a private property in Indigo Valley. Address will be provided upon registration.
As this is an outdoor event, please wear suitable outdoor clothing, footwear and sun protection.
