EMERGING CONCERT ARTIST SERIES

Exceptional Young Artists Sharing the Joy of Music

This concert features an exciting collaboration between Matthew Zengoski, a promising young guitarist making his concert debut, and his mentor Nigel Jones. Matthew demonstrates strong musical instincts, technical focus, and interpretive maturity well beyond his years. His involvement in this concert marks the beginning of his public performance career, both as a soloist and in ensemble settings.

  • The program bridges eras and styles, inviting listeners to discover the expressive power of the classical guitar through composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Fernando Sor, Andrew York, Egberto Gismonti, Steve Erquiaga, Astor Piazzolla and Leonard Grigoryan

Nigel Jones is a respected guitarist, educator, composer and chamber musician. As Head of Guitar at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, he has helped shape the careers of many young performers and remains active as a recitalist and collaborator.

Younger Artists to Open Concert

WollCon Junior String Quartet will open the concert. Earlier in the year the group was succesful in the Musica Viva Strike Accord Chamber Competition.
