From the intricate ragas of Indian classical to the improvisational spirit of jazz and Western classical music, this performance bridges worlds and traditions, transporting audiences on a sonic journey from East to West.

Featuring:

• Monique Lapins (Violin) – Former second violinist of the New Zealand String Quartet and lecturer at the School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington. Currently with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO).

• Basant Madhur (Tabla) – Award-winning tabla player who has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning Indian musicians. Known for projects such as Shades of Shakti, Indo Celtic Trio, and India Meets Ireland.

• Sargam Madhur (Sitar) – A gifted young sitar player from New Zealand, featured in Arts on Tour projects and prestigious festivals across the country.

Inspired by historic collaborations between Indian and Western classical traditions, this trio presents a captivating concert where the soulful strains of the Western violin intertwine with the meditative melodies of the Indian sitar, grounded by the intricate rhythms of the tabla.
