Event description

Nature Conservation Margaret River Region launches an exciting new initiative aimed at caring for the Margaret River, with a packed 12-month calendar of events to inspire and educate locals about the iconic waterway. The Friends of Wooditjup Bilya (Margaret River) will band together for a huge watering event this January, to keep our seedlings thriving through this long hot summer!

Formerly a degraded part of the foreshore, this river reserve site is well on the way towards regenerating into vital riparian habitat with significant ecological restoration works being done over the past six months. In winter of 2024, over 2000 native seedlings were planted as hundreds of volunteers joined together to restore over half a hectare of riparian foreshore habitat.  And now it needs your help this summer.

Want to join us?

Tickets are free, and donations are welcome. All donations will go towards the Wooditjup Bilya Restoration Fund, putting every dollar back into river restoration work along the river.

Meet at the start of the walking track, at the corner of Doyle Place and Kevill Rd West and walk down the track to the planting site. Look for the Nature Conservation signs.

This program is funded by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River through the Environmental Management Fund.
