Join Peter Solness for a unique performance experience at Hill End, where he appears in the guise of 19th-century photographer Beaufoy Merlin, accompanied by long-time collaborator Fiona Howle as Mary Beyers.
Henry Beaufoy Merlin was pivotal in creating thousands of glass-plate negatives, now famously known as the UNESCO-registered Holtermann Collection, held by the State Library of NSW. From theatrical showman to prolific wet plate photographer, Merlin’s story is one of transformation, vision, and technical mastery.
Join Peter Solness in a special live performance at the Hill End Analogue Photography Festival, where he appears in the character of 19th-century photographer Beaufoy Merlin. He will be accompanied by long-time collaborator Fiona Howle as Mary Beyers.
Merlin, once a theatrical showman, became a pioneering wet plate photographer responsible for thousands of glass-plate negatives, now recognised as the UNESCO-registered Holtermann Collection, held by the State Library of NSW. His life and legacy will be brought to life through this engaging performance.
