Intro to Tinkercad + Basic Slicer

Ever look at a 3D print and wonder, “How the heck do I make that?” Come play with me!

In this live, beginner-friendly Zoom class, we'll explore the basics of Tinkercad and slicing for 3D printing by actually creating projects together. No complicated CAD experience required—we're starting with simple shapes and learning how to turn them into something functional, customizable, and ready to print.

We'll create a heart-shaped pencil cup and a personalized nameplate while learning skills you can use to start creating your own designs.

We'll cover:

• Navigating Tinkercad and working with basic shapes

• Resizing, positioning, aligning, grouping, and creating holes

• Thinking about dimensions, walls, and how your design will actually print

• Exporting your design and bringing it into a slicer

• Basic slicer navigation and settings

• Adding and positioning text

• Customizing and preparing your project for printing

• Using slicer preview to see how your design will print

• A few real-world tips I've learned from designing and 3D printing my own projects

This isn't an advanced CAD or slicer engineering class. We're keeping things simple, practical, and beginner-friendly so you can understand the basic workflow from:

IDEA → DESIGN → SLICE → PRINT

What you'll need

A computer with internet access and a free Tinkercad account. You'll also want to have a slicer installed if you'd like to follow along with that portion of class. We'll be using Bambu Studio for the demonstration, but the basic concepts can help you better understand other slicers as well.

You do NOT need to own a 3D printer to attend.

This is a live, approximately 90-minute Zoom class, with time to follow along, ask questions, and create with me.
