This introductory welding course is designed for beginners who want to develop fundamental welding skills in a safe and structured environment. Through hands-on demonstrations and guided practice, participants will learn the essential techniques of MIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). By the end of the course, students will have the confidence to operate welding equipment safely, troubleshoot common issues, and apply their skills to practical projects.

· Examples of welded products such as frameworks and repairs
· Module 2: Safety Practices
· Demonstration of correct PPE: helmet, gloves, boots, jacket
· Fire safety measures and importance of ventilation
· Practical Exercise: Identify safety hazards in a simulated workspace
· Module 3: Welding Equipment and Materials
· Demonstration: Setup of a MIG welding machine including gas connections and settings
· Overview of essential tools: chipping hammer, wire brush, welding clamps
· Discussion of common welding metals: steel, aluminium
· Hands-On Exercise: Identify suitable materials for welding
· Module 4: Basic Welding Techniques
· Hands-on demonstration: MIG welding bead creation, speed, angle
· Group activity: Build a basic project (e.g., small frame or joint)
· Module 5: Troubleshooting and Best Practices
· Common issues: porosity, undercut, excessive spatter and their causes
· Tips for equipment maintenance and weld quality improvement

Important Safety Notes
- This course is NOT suitable for individuals with a pacemaker or heart condition
- All participants must wear long-sleeved shirts and pants made from 100% cotton
- Closed-toe safety shoes are mandatory
- Long hair must be tied back
- No jewellery or loose accessories allowed
Tools & Materials
All tools, equipment, and PPE will be provided by The Bower. Participants will use real welding equipment in a safe, supervised setting.
