An introduction to creative writing with Dr Lee Kofman

A two-hour creative writing workshop for anyone who wants to write, write better, or simply explore the craft of writing.

Dr Lee Kofman is a Russian-born Israeli-Australian author of six books and editor of three anthologies. Her books include The Writer Laid Bare, a writing and reading guide exploring the art, craft and life of writing; Imperfect, shortlisted for the Nib Literary Award; and The Dangerous Bride. She has also edited and co-edited anthologies including Split and Rebellious Daughters, featuring prominent Australian writers.

Lee has been teaching creative writing and mentoring writers for many years, with her work spanning fiction, memoir, creative non-fiction and poetry. Her writing has been published widely in Australia and internationally.

THE WORKSHOP

Over two hours, Lee will take you into the craft of creative writing, from finding your voice and generating ideas to developing a writing practice.

You’ll explore:

• The fundamentals of creative writing
• Finding and developing your writer’s voice
• Tools for inspiration and motivation
• How to build a consistent writing practice
• Practical approaches to the craft of writing

No previous writing experience required.

THE EXPERIENCE

Location: Balaclava (Location to be Reaveled a beautiful venue!)

Before the workshop, arrive at 11:30am for 30 minutes to meet people, settle in and get in the zone.

Enjoy fresh bread, dips and refreshments provided by Tahini Neri, while Chrystal Dias welcomes the room and introduces Shabbat Club Australia’s new Arts & Culture arm.

Chrystal will also lead a short guided experience before handing over to Lee.
