Hi there!

This event is a sign-up for those interested in taking up membership with the North Fremantle Social Club as we prepare an expression of interest for the former North Fremantle Bowls Club site. If you have been involved before we thank you for your patience and are happy to say we’re poised to put in a bonza proposal. To jog your memory, we are an association looking for a space to set up a social centre that supports Fremantle’s diverse community of interests, as well as a culture of collaboration and shared decision making.

The space will facilitate skill sharing workshops, film nights, open mics, fundraisers, communal dinners, and general family friendly good times. As a members-based project, the creative control of the space would be shared between members. We hope for a space where badminton enthusiasts and chess players can nod along approvingly to the soundscapes of some of Perth’s eclectic music geeks; held within the warmth of that mutual recognition our communities of interest and association provide. We believe such a social centre can help people to engage with others, to become empowered in transforming and activating their community for the better.

As we develop our expression of interest, we would like to formalize the membership of all who have previously contributed to this project and rally new parties to the table. If you donated $50 or more during our Go Fund Me campaign, many months ago, please click on 'Existing Member' and fill in your details so we can honour your membership. If you did not but would like to throw your support behind this project, then please click on ‘New Member’ to donate and receive membership.

Doing so will contribute to the strength of our proposal for the site. As a member we invite you to get in touch to involve yourself as much as you are willing. The establishment of this centre will be the effort of all with time and ideas on hand. A priority is to establish a clear framework for a diverse use of the site. Establishing regular hours and a place that anyone would be happy to find themselves in. The perfect place for the vulnerability of a first performance, for learning and mentoring, or for the baby steps of a new event or project.

Membership revenue will be for rent, bond and running costs of the venue. If the site is not secured, revenue will be held in lieu of a new site or will be refunded.
