LGBTQ+ sexual, domestic and family violence prevention workshop for community

- Tuesday 14 February, 6pm to 8:30pm.
Learn how to play an active role in preventing and responding to sexual, domestic and family violence affecting LGBTQ+ people in this training from the City of Sydney and ACON.
This online workshop is by application only. It’s designed for residents or people volunteering and working in the City of Sydney local area.
You’ll gain an understanding of gender-based violence and how it can be prevented, sexual and domestic and family violence, and how to have safe supportive conversations. You’ll also learn where to get help for people impacted by sexual, domestic and family violence.
Over the sessions you will learn how to:
- identify drivers of gender-based violence that impact LGBTQ+ communities
- describe primary prevention frameworks
- identify and respond to drivers of violence and strategies to contribute to change
- demonstrate being a compassionate responder to people experiencing or using violence
- implement self-care and self-support strategies in day-to-day life and practice.
Application by expression of interest due by Monday 30 January 2023, 10am.

QLife: 1800 184 527 (3pm to midnight every day) –provides anonymous and free LGBTI peer support and referral for people in Australia wanting to talk about sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.
Rainbow Sexual, Domestic and Family Violence Helpline:1800 497 212 (24/7) – can assist with managing the impacts of sexual domestic and family violence, talking to supporters, information about seeking assistance from police, information on medical help, safety planning and referrals.
13YARN: 13 92 76 (24 hours/7 days) –  a crisis line where you can talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.
NSW Domestic Violence Line: 1800 65 64 63 – for referral or information about NSW domestic violence (including accommodation and legal) support services.
NSW Sexual Violence Helpline: 1800 424 017 – provides telephone and online crisis counselling for people who’ve experienced sexual assault, sexual violence, rape or domestic or family violence.
Men’s Referral Service: 1300 766 491 – for men and friends and family who recognise their behaviour is causing problems in relationships.
