About this Masterclass: Social Media Self-Defence

We know that one of the main barriers to entering public life for many women is the fear of online trolling and bullying. That is why we have engaged the Office of the eSafety Commissioner to deliver this Social Media Self Masterclass.

It is designed to provide you with skills and strategies for interacting online at work with impact, confidence and resilience.

This session will benefit all women who have an active online presence as part of their working lives.

    What the session covers:

    1. How to recognise online abuse and the impact it has on women's working lives.

Share real life stories of the types of online abuse experienced by women who have an online presence for work. Learn about the personal and societal impacts this abuse has and the effect on gender equality.

    2. How to set up your social media accounts and profiles with safety in mind.

Learn about the privacy and security settings on the platforms you use. Learn tips to safely set up accounts and engage online with confidence.

    3. Dealing with online abuse.

Learn when and how to report to workplaces, platforms, eSafety or the police. Learn techniques to support wellbeing when dealing with online abuse through stories from others. Understand the practical role eSafety has in helping to safeguard all Australians from online harms.
