AMANI YOGA: Nervous System Reset: for BIWOC
Please arrive by 2:50 pm Â
Slow down in this 90Â minute class designed to carve out time for
rest. We will begin with gentle movement to prepare the body for
restorative/yin  poses that will encourage your nervous system to dip into its parasympathetic state, cultivating the opposite of stress.
The name AMANI YOGA means peace in Swahili & best wishes inÂ
AMANI YOGA came out of a desire to create a culturally
inclusive yoga space for BIWOC to feel safe and have a sense of
belonging and experience how yoga can contribute to racial stress healing and
well-being.
This offering includes
- A somatic yoga practice- providing deep rest, which you can take away and practice daily (all postures are accessible to all bodies and all levels of experience, especially beginners)
- An exploration of how racial stress impacts our body’s nervous system and how yoga can relax the nervous system in a safe nurturing setting
Entry to the studio is in the back. Pls park anywhere front or back (Â near the bridal shop) and come through the black gate next to the laundromat, and walk to the back - you will see our secret little entry :
AMANI Yoga is intended for self-identified black woman, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman and women of colour. Thank you for honouring this intention.- No previous yoga experience is required – Yoga is for EVERYBODY.
- Wear loose comfortable clothes.
- Please no perfumes or makeup.
- Please bring a water bottle, towel or sarong to cover the bolsters.
- Yoga equipment such as mats etc are provided but you are welcome to bring your own mat.Â

AMANI YOGA founder Maria Osman is qualified Hatha yoga teacher,  with further training in Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, the Science of Slow Flow, Restorative Yoga , Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY certification; the Centre for Trauma & Embodiment) and Meditation.Â
