This inspirational feature-length film, an official Dalai Lama documentary, tells the incredible true story of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Chinese-occupied Tibet in 1959, with His Holiness Dalai Lama telling his story in his own words for the first time on film.

Hosting the virtual Q&A panel, Nadya Hutagalung is a UN Environment Ambassador, Founder of Let Elephants Be Elephants & We The Good, and Media Personality.

Eco-activist and media personality Nadya Hutagalung parlayed her 35 years in television, film, and fashion to become one of Asia’s leading voices in the Green Movement. Devoting her time and voice to environmental and mental wellbeing advocacy, Nadya is the founder of both the ivory reduction campaign “Let Elephants Be Elephants” and the cause “We The Good”, in support of migrant workers, mental wellbeing and individuals and families at risk. Find Nadya Hutagalung on Instagram @nadyahutagalung

TENZIN CHOEGYAL

Tenzin is a Grammy nominated Tibetan artist, composer, activist, musical director and cultural ambassador.

One of the world’s finest musicians with Tibetan lineages, Tenzin combines his soaring vocals and traditional folk mastery with contemporary music imaginings. His collaborations with artists throughout Australia and worldwide include Phillip Glass and Laurie Anderson. Learn more about Tenzin here.

GESHE TENZIN ZOPA

Geshe Tenzin Zopa is a Tibetan Buddhist monk of the Mahayana tradition. Geshe Zopa entered Sera Jey University in 1990 to undertake extensive studies in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and graduated as a Geshe in 2007.

During his adult life Geshe Zopa has worked for his close teacher, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, as an international touring Geshe with Foundation of the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, (FPMT). He teaches extensively across the world, as well as taking responsibility for the temporal and spiritual development of Rachen Nunnery and Mu Monastery, Tsum, Nepal. Geshe Zopa has published more than 12 books on Buddhist philosophy.

DR. B. ALAN WALLACE

President and Founder of the Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies, and the Center for Contemplative Research.

Dr. Alan Wallace is one of the world’s leading scholars, writers, and teachers of Tibetan Buddhism and has been a personal student of His Holiness the Dalai Lama since 1971.

He was ordained by the Dalai Lama in 1975 and lived as a Buddhist monk for fourteen years. Since 1987, he has been a frequent translator and contributor to meetings between the Dalai Lama and prominent scientists. Along with his scholarly work, Alan Wallace is regarded as one of the West’s preeminent meditation teachers and retreat guides.

Dr. Wallace has become an outspoken advocate for a revolution in the mind sciences. The Asia Pacific Center for Contemplative Research Aotearoa in New Zealand is one of three current locations where this study will be conducted.

JEAN-PAUL MERTINEZ

Jean-Paul Mertinez is a producer, writer and director. He is founder and managing director of Compassionate Films, his London based Production Company. 


Jean-Paul Mertinez is a producer, writer and director. He is founder and Managing Director of London based production company Compassionate Films. He is currently producing a number of major feature documentaries, the first of which is complete and is called “Never Forget Tibet, the Dalai Lama’s Untold Story.” With exclusive access to the Dalai Lama and the Indian political officer who led him to safety across the plains of India the film interviews those involved together with historic b&w footage, which brings the incredible dangerous escapade to life.

Jean-Paul is a graduate of the National Film & Television School and he has worked with director Alan Ereira on Aluna, the second film of the secretive Kogi Indian tribe of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. He’s now working on new international feature film, television and live projects that seek to express a truly sustainable and compassionate worldview whilst still being engaging and entertaining.

In 2016 he worked with the United Nations on the Harmony with Nature program that aims to align human activity with nature. In 2017 he was invited to address the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York about the relationship between the Arts, Ecology and Earth Rights. He has travelled extensively, filming all over the world.

Peter is a meditation teacher, life coach and NLP trainer and runs monthly retreats in Adelaide. He has a background in both Tibetan and Thai Buddhism and teaches students though the lens of a calm mind to help bring peace, happiness and joy to their lives.
