This inspirational feature-length film, an official Dalai Lama documentary, tells the incredible true story of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Chinese-occupied Tibet in 1959, with His Holiness Dalai Lama telling his story in his own words for the first time on film.

SPECIAL GUESTS

VENERABLE CHOKYI

Venerable Chökyi has been a dedicated Dharma student since 1990 and is devoted to Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche. At the time of ordination, Ven Chokyi was academic coordinator of Indigenous Studies at the University of NSW.

After ordination, Venerable Chökyi was Spiritual Program Coordinator at the FPMT Centre in Sydney, Vajrayana Institute, for 10 years and in 2018 was appointed the resident western teacher at Chenrezig Institute, an FPMT Centre in Queensland.

Completely committed to learning and teaching the Dharma to benefit all beings, Venerable Chökyi is a much-loved mentor to students, known for her great depth of wisdom, good humour and huge heart.

Venerable Chökyi is resident teacher at Perth’s Hayagriva Buddhist Centre. Hayagriva is a Tibetan Buddhist centre in Kensington, that offers a program of Buddhist study and practice in the tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. She also teaches at the Hayagriva sister centre in Bunbury, the Tara Mediation Centre.

DAVID MICHIE

David Michie is the internationally best-selling author of The Dalai Lama’s Cat series, The Magician of Lhasa series, as well as the non-fiction titles Buddhism for Busy PeopleBuddhism for Pet LoversMindfulness is Better than Chocolate and Hurry Up and Meditate

In 2015 he established Mindful Safaris to Africa, combining wildlife viewing and meditation sessions in journeys to unexplored places, outer and inner.

NEESHA SETH

Neesha Seth is an Organisational Psychologist (Director, Legacy Psychology) and President of the UNAA Young Professionals in WA.  An experienced media presenter, she has shows airing on Foxtel and Channel 7 Perth.  Over the past 15 years Neesha has held several leadership roles within the United Nations Association of Australia, and is currently the technical lead of the Wellbeing working group for the National UNAA board.
