Event description

This Coaches Summit will have something for everyone. Participants will learn about NICA and what makes it so different from other youth sports. The goal is for you to have fun, meet other great coaches from across the region, and learn strategies that you can easily implement with your NICA team.

Since this is the first Summit series, you will be a part of building the legacy of NICA in Australia. We appreciate you and everything that you do to get more kids on bikes, and we’re here to support you in the NICA mission to build strong minds, bodies, communities, and character through cycling!

The agenda will include workshops on coach philosophy, starting and managing a MTB team, risk management, recruitment strategies for athletes/coaches, and youth development. We’ll also spend a day working on how to teach fundamental mountain bike skills (On-the-Bike Skills 101) and how to use on and off the bike games at practice to build skills and team culture. On top of all that, we’ll have a group ride!

Day 1 = Classroom, workshops, networking, and a group ride! (mostly indoors, Mogo Community Centre, Park St & Buckenbowra Rd, Mogo NSW; group ride at the Mogo Trails)

Day 2 = On-the-Bike Skills and creating dynamic training sessions (all on bikes, Mogo Sports and Recreation Reserve, Mogo Community Centre)

The summit will meet two of the NICA Level 3 coach licensing requirements: NICA Coach Summit and On-the-Bike Skills 101: in-person clinic.
